CDMS technology
Founded in The Netherlands in 2020, TrueMass designs charge detection mass spectrometry (CDMS) instruments dedicated to the analysis of macromolecules. The TrueMass CDMS technology brings researchers a step closer to obtaining the true mass of previously unattainable large biomolecules, with the ultimate goal of accelerating scientific discovery and shortening time to market for new innovations, such as therapeutics and advanced materials.
TrueMass founder and mass spectrometry industry veteran John Hoyes engaged with investors who share his passion for improving healthcare and scientific discovery. His vision of bringing state-of-the-art technology to drive the advancement of scientific research and his goal of developing a new technology in the established field of mass spectrometry, which can for the first time provide detailed measurements of large biomolecules like viruses, has driven the initial investment.
Together with our investors, we are always looking ahead to the next solution that will evolve the analytical technology space to the benefit of life sciences and materials sciences – and the advancement of innovation and discovery.
At the heart of the TrueMass CDMS technology is a high-performance electric sector analyzer, optimised for efficient ion trapping and low noise inductive ion detection. With our manufacturing facility based in Manchester, UK, we are well positioned to draw on the experience of one of the world centers of excellence in mass spectrometry (MS) technology.
TrueMass founder John Hoyes has more than 30 years’ experience in the MS industry. He completed his PhD in laser physics from the University of Manchester in 1989 and spent a year as a postdoctoral research associate at the university’s Institute of Science and Technology in the Department of Instrumentation and Analytical Science (DIAS). John then joined VG Analytical in 1990 and in the subsequent years, made significant contributions to the design and development of QTOF and ion mobility mass spectrometers. He set up his consultancy firm HGSG Ltd in 2018, and founded TrueMass to realise his idea of a commercial CDMS instrument.
At TrueMass, we recognise the crucial role our partners play in the development of leading CDMS instrumentation. We aim to leverage the experience of world leading companies in their respective fields to bring advanced technology to market.
Dedicated to the design and development of MS and ion mobility instrumentation, Fasmatech is an important strategic partner for TrueMass and was instrumental in the build of our CDMS instrument.
